The international platform PHABULOμS is putting the development of free-form microoptics in Europe on a new footing. Seisenbacher is on board as a use case partner.
Together with 18 other European industrial companies and research institutes from across Europe, Seisenbacher forms the PHABULOμS platform — a European network of expertise for freeform microoptics.
Optical solutions in the micrometer range are already being used in a variety of ways — from virtual reality tools to lighting. The demand for extremely small, complex optical elements is constantly increasing. At the same time, there are high hurdles — technological and logistical — for many companies to use this innovative technology.
The pilot line project PHABULOμS, funded by the European Union, is therefore positioning itself as a one-stop shop for future users. Based on a total of six use cases from various areas of application, pilot lines will be established for the entire cycle from design to finished application. Seisenbacher is one of these use case partners from industry and brings its expertise in designing and implementing lighting solutions for moving interiors. On trains, micro-optics not only enable new forms of lighting — such as slim ceiling panels — but also new approaches to lighting ambiance and distribution. Used perfectly, it helps to make traveling more pleasant and thus the interior better. With these individual best-case implementations, Seisenbacher and its research partners are now also part of a Europe-wide project to promote and further develop the application of free-form microelectronics.
